Number 2 & 7 : Sign - Cancer / Pisces

This is the number of dualism. As long as Adam was alone, there was calm and serenity. With the birth of Eve, dualism came into being, and, consequently, chaos, confusion and contention became dominant around the world. Dualism also gave rise to antagonism. An idea occurs in the mind. Soon a second thought crops up, overriding or contradicting the first, giving rise to hesitation. The first idea becomes stagnant and, perhaps, remains unimplemented. Thus, number 2 represents an antithesis. It is a mixture of positive and negative, profit and loss and, in the biological sphere, male and female. On the positive side, split and separation, which give rise to antagonism, are indicated. This number is presided over by the planet Moon, which shines in the reflected light of the Sun. Therefore, number 2 people are influenced by others. The success they achieve in life is due to some outside help and patronage. Even when they rise to the top, Number 2 persons are often subservient to the wishes of another. While number 1 is active and male, number 2 is passive and female. Persons of this number are inclined to be gentle and docile, artistic and emotional. They are guided and swayed by their emotions, rather than by strength of their will. When the Moon is strong in the birth chart, the native has charm, harmony and the spirit of co-operation. When the Moon is weak, the native shows characteristics of disharmony, weakness and indecisiveness. These are the negative effects found in Number 2 persons.

The Moon should be deemed strong when the birth is during the bright fortnight or near the full Moon day, i.e. when the date of birth is the 2nd, 11th, 20th,or 29th; the birth is on a Monday and between June 21 and July 23; and, particularly, if born in the planetary hour of the Moon. This is so as the Moon is the ruling planet of the zodiac sign Cancer (June 21- July23).

This number is a mystic one, and we have dealt with it in an earlier chapter.It is ruled by the Moon. The position of the Moon, at the time of the birth, is called its radical position. Since the Moon travels round the zodiac in about 28 days, it travels a distance of 90 degrees every seven days. Thus,

After 28 days, the Moon completes one round, and is back at the same place where it was at birth. At the end of 35 days again, it is at a distance of 90 degrees from its radical position and so on.

Not only for people born on the 7th, 16th,or 25th, i.e. persons whose basic number is 7, but for all people born on any date, the progressed position of the Moon is the same for the following years, as given below:

Some astrologers state that if there has been a change in the course of life events in a particular year, similar changes may be expected in the other years of the series as well.
Among the modern occultists, Cheiro has, in his Language of the Hand, explained the 'system of seven'. According to him:
'The entire system undergoes a complete change in seven years; there are seven stages in prenatal existence. The alternate sevens are somewhat alike in their relation to the functional change of the body. For example, a child, very delicate on passing the age of seven, is also likely to be delicate on passing the age of twenty-one; whereas, a child, healthy and strong at the age of seven, will again be healthy and strong at twenty-one, no matter how delicate he or she may be through the intermediate years. There is generally a change in the fate or fortunes of a person at the age of 21, 28, 35, 42, and 49.'

So far, we were dealing with the mystic influence of number7. Let us now describe the characteristics of persons born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th. Such people are idealists, seeking utopia and living in an imaginary world of their own. They are more impractical than practical. They may achieve success spiritually, but are not so lucky in materialistic achievements. They tend to be psychic and rather nebulous in their thought process. Consequently, their plans are seldom transformed into reality. They are advised to be more practical, and must, consciously, implement their ideas to achieve success, and not leave them at the planning stage. Their positive qualities are intellectualism, spirituality, scientific research, wisdom, and refinement. If the Moon is not strong, they are likely to be cold, sceptic and nervous, and may suffer humiliation.

The Moon is deemed strong when it is away from the Sun, and the person is born on a Monday, in the planetary hour of the Moon on the 7th, 16th or 25th of any month, particularly between June 21 and July 23. This is so as the Moon is the ruling planet for the zodiac sign Cancer (June 21-June 23).

Despite the visionary temperament described for Number 7 persons, they are independent and make an effort to strike a new note. They are fond of travel and change because the Moon governs them, and this luminary is the swiftest of all the planets. They excel at poetry, painting and similar fine arts where a good imagination is a valuable asset. They work more by hunch than by reasoning, and often make good money.

They are generous and inclined to charity and benevolence. This number is also associated with Neptune- god of the seas. Therefore, Number sevens who are merchants and trade in goods brought from across the seas or export good to lands beyond the seas, are markedly lucky. They may also do well in jobs connected with water or the seas.

They have the power of intuition. The only danger that besets them is their tendency for drinking or taking drugs in one form or the other.
