Valmiki Jayanti, or Balmiki Jayanthi, is observed as the birthday of Adi Kavi Maharishi Valmiki, the author of the epic Ramayan. Valmiki Jayanti 2011 date is October 11. Valmiki Jayanthi is observed on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashvin (September – October). The day is also observed as Pargat Diwas by Maharishi Valmiki Community.
